CE Stainless Steel Chimney Certification and Misinformation
A stainless steel chimney must be CE certified. Compliance with European standards certifies its suitable materials (stainless steel antimagnetic steel AISI 304 BA or AISI 316L), its insulation in the case of double wall (mineral wool), its mechanical and thermal resistance, its tightness and safety use it.
An important note should be made here regarding market misinformation on CE certification: Products that fully comply with the relevant Community Directives must bear the CE marking with the relevant information. It is therefore misleading to the consumer to present a form by a CE certification body and to have the products unlabeled or vice versa.
Also, in no case does the statement refer to all the products of a manufacturer. A very important point is the sealing rings which, while they are part of the certification, in many companies are sold separately from the products (obviously to be presented as cheaper).
Finally, in order for a chimney to be certified, all its parts must be certified independently but also as a single system. For example, a chimney without a certified taff or bracket is not certified! 1
